For the past 4 years I’ve made a point of buying the New York Times the Sunday before New Year’s Day.  That’s the day that the magazine pays tribute to those lives lost in the past 12 months with “The Lives They Lived” edition.  Most of the people featured are well-known names, but many are minor [...]

I’ve been using this ancient Singer my mom found at a yard sale forever.  It jams, it sputters, it rattles.  I get very angry with it.

My new machine!  She’s a Janome Magnolia 7330.  Not too fancy, which suits my pretty basic needs, but she has some cool stitches, auto-back stitch, does three kinds of button-holes and [...]

This is the drawing I  referenced in the Betsy Walton post.  It’s called “Be Mine” and is 4″ x 6″.  I had fun doing the black lines for the feathers and rocks, plus I like the ambiguity of the image and title.  I put it in my Etsy shop.

I love making little drawings and paintings.  [...]

Not as big a bump this time, so we didn’t do our normal panic and rush to urgent care.  Tony and I are slowly earning are parenting stripes.  Mogs is doing fine.  She and I got to cuddle for a long time in the rocking chair.  Life with a toddler is never boring.

loved participating in the Buy Handmade challenge.  I wanted to share my favorite handmade gifts that I gave and received this Christmas season:
This scarf for my mom is made from silk and linen which I hand embroidered.  If I had more time I would of loaded it up with feathers, but I think it turned out well.  [...]

What a great day I’ve had.  First of all it snowed.  It never snows on Christmas in the northwest and it finally did today.  It was more of a symbolic snow in that it didn’t stay for long, but it was white and fell from the sky on Christmas—so great.  Also, I received not one but [...]

The little Solstice friend I made today from felt, paper clay, buttons and twigs.

My fiberart piece, She Moves Slowly, has moved to the westside to live at my friend Jen’s home.  I am a little sad to see her go.  She has been my talisman since I’ve come back to artmaking.  I wasn’t sure why I was making things, only that I needed to be making them.  I would remind myself to just keep [...]
