Last weekend, my sweet friend Rebeca dropped a gift at my door. She had a box of enameling supplies that she received awhile back from another friend. She didn’t have an immediate need for enameling supplies, so thought I might give it a go. The contents of the box were so curious. It seems to [...]

This small doll quilt (8″ X 12″
is a variation of a pinwheel pattern called Cartwheel (or Whirligiggles). I made it for Sew, Mama, Sew’s quilting month. A tutorial can be found here. The one thing I changed, to make cutting out the fabric a bit easier, was to take the stencil I made following Michelle’s directions and [...]

The light was a bit better this afternoon, so I took a few more photos of The Flood quilt. I wanted to show the little details that are lost in the full image.
This quilt will be the central piece in my ArtWalk show in April. It’s funny that I did the most challenging, in scale and detail, first. The other [...]

It’s finished! I feel like I am finally coming up for air.
The Flood is 40″ X 40″. I did most of the applique and all the embroidery by hand. The top is linen, with recycled fabrics (cotton, wool and linen). I wrote about the thoughts behind this piece here.

Using up scrap fabric this week….
This quilt block is for Sew, Mama, Sew’s quilting month. The pattern is called Squares in Squares and is based on a log cabin pattern. I like that the corners meet naturally, so there isn’t any precise matching up to be done in the sewing.
Two little bags. Trying to learn [...]

I was tagged today by Seis Manos, who asked her to join a 6 word memoir meme fashioned after Not Quite What I was Expecting: Six Word Memoirs by Famous and Obscure Writersby Larry Smith and Rachel Fershleiser. If you’re up for it, here are the rules:
1. Write a six word memoir
2. Post it on [...]

I’ve been working on “The Flood” quilt for about a month now. Nearly complete, I need to do a bit more hand-embroidery before I bind the edges. This is the largest quilt I’ve made to date and I like to think that my hours of sewing and ripping out stitches has earned me some quilting “chops.” [...]
