The light was a bit better this afternoon, so I took a few more photos of The Flood quilt. I wanted to show the little details that are lost in the full image.
This quilt will be the central piece in my ArtWalk show in April. It’s funny that I did the most challenging, in scale and detail, first. The other three pieces will be smaller–about 26″. The imagery for those will use the remaining three elements (earth, air and fire) as the framework for further explorations of postpartum motherhood…although much lighter in mood.

What a wonderful piece. I love the detail and textures. GREAT work!

This is a beautiful quilt! And the story behind it is beautiful too….how the depression came out into the quilt is something that is truly amazing. What a wonderful heirloom piece this quilt will become.
It’s just lovely. Powerful & lovely. Thanks for posting the detail shots — I’m glad to get the chance to see your handwork up close!
You really pulled something great together here. I love how you used the stitching. The drain pipe spitting out water and the blue quilted lines look like water coming down from the clouds to me. The colors are so perfectly choosen too.
