♥ I just noticed that this is my 200th post! Woo-hoo! See #1 from 7 months ago: here. ♥
One of my favorite short stories is The Renegade by Shirley Jackson–it is perfectly creepy.
Our cat Mary has been exhibiting similarly poor behavior reminding me of this story. Mary was a pregnant stray that we took in last fall after watching her fend off three raccoons on our back steps. She had her sweet babies in our bathroom and we found homes for all of them after 6 long, messy, admittedly fun weeks. We kept Mary inside through the winter with our other cat and got her spayed. About a month ago we started letting her outside during the day. While she is the most loving, cuddly cat to us (and puts up with a lot of heavy handed play from Mogs), we discovered that she really is one tough lady. A few weeks ago she scared off two of our neighbor dogs in one howling, quick motion. They went yelping away from this wild bully cat of ours. Then, she killed not one but two birds last week. So, we added a bell to her collar and hope it will help give the birds a little fair warning. If you stop by sometime make sure you give her a pet or two as she really is a love bug…but, do watch your back!

My apologies to the faint of heart, I just wanted to capture the lovely form of this sweet bird.
