We have returned from our island vacation. We were on Lopez Island in the San Juan’s where we rented a little beach cabin overlooking a wetland pond and Upright Channel. As promised there were bunnies and deer, ice cream and ferry boats. Mogs was in heaven running up and down the empty beaches digging with a clam shell to watch the geoducks spurt water into the air (pronounced “gooey-ducks,” which is the mascot of my college). We found many bright purple starfish and touched their rough skin; spent an evening watching a blue heron fish from a buoy; made friends with a big black cat; and, had lots of time cuddling and reading together. Mogs heard the story of Puss and Boots for the first time and was totally enthralled. We are happy to be home but look forward to our next trip to the beach cabin. I feel so grateful that we can take Mogs to beautiful places where she has the freedom to run and explore–to see her so happy and learning about the world.
Tony wrote about our trip on his blog, too. Take a look here.
Thank you Priscilla and Lia for leaving comments on your ideal vacation. I’d go anywhere with you ladies, anytime. I’ll be sending you both one of the drawings/paintings I made this week–hope you like glitter!

I got my sweet painting in the mail, and yes I DO like glitter! Thank you thank you!!
