After a late night listening to our crazy neighbors shoot off fireworks (I even saw some yahoo shoot them at another person), we spent a pleasant Saturday at the zoo. Mogs really loved watching the walruses swim by. Although I really treasure the opportunity to watch them, I always feel sad at how small and boring their habitat is. E.T., the large male, has lived at the zoo since he was a pup after he was found staring and orphaned by oil workers in Alaska.
We’ve taken Mogs to this zoo and the Denver zoo in years past. This was the first year that she really got into looking at the animals. I always liked going to the zoo before I became a parent, but now it is a really magical experience watching her see a walrus, sea horse, shark, tiger and reindeer for the very first time. I think that is one of the best things about being a parent.

OOh, I love it. Is that the zoo in Tacoma?
I just went to Etsy to buy the little picture of the worms for Zep, but the shop wasn’t there. Do you still have the worms?
Sorry I didn’t get back to the email yet. Love you.
The video is awesome! The walruses are so interesting to watch.
I feel the same way about zoos as you do. I have been to the National Zoo in D.C. and to a zoo in Japan. The one in Japan was especially sad because the animals were bony and some of them were behaving like they were angry.
There is a website that you can observe elephants in a sanctuary that Mogs might like. My daughter loves watching them and it’s educational so that they think about how much space a huge animal really needs. I think it’s http://www.elephants.com where they have the live camera.
