I was doing a little research on flower meaning for another project and came across a description of the mythological origins of white lilies.  (I’m embarrassed to say that I am totally in the dark about mythology. Parents take note: having your kids switch schools mid-year in both 6th and 7th grades can result in quite a few gaps [...]

I created a second version of this painting recently:

Finding Her Place
As Mogs went to bed tonight, I had the little thrill I get every night at this time.  Anyone who has had kids knows how sacred the time is when your kids are finally tucked into bed for the night.  The noise and rush of the day [...]

I am so touched that Average Jane Crafter included a bit on my Flood quilt in her special mother’s day post.  I really appreciate that she shared her complicated feelings on motherhood and I’m excited to check out the book she recommends.  There’s so much info out there on taking care of and nurturing your children, [...]

I displayed my work downtown this weekend during spring Arts Walk.  Friday night was the big night with all the shops open late with special displays from local artists.  The streets were blocked off, music filled the air and the whole town was out and about.  Before the show began I was incredibly nervous.  I felt vulnerable having [...]

I’ve been working on “The Flood” quilt for about a month now.  Nearly complete, I need to do a bit more hand-embroidery before I bind the edges.  This is the largest quilt I’ve made to date and I like to think that my hours of sewing and ripping out stitches has earned me some quilting “chops.”  [...]

Twice today, while toodling around the internet, I came across ads for something called “mommy calling cards.”  Have you heard of these?
No more rummaging through your diaper bag for a scrap piece of paper to jot down a phone number–the easy solution is mommy calling card! After having your own, you’ll wonder how you ever [...]

It’s amazing to think that all this (and more!) was created by my two hands in the past 5 months.  Guess I had some pent up mama energy, huh?  I’ve seen a few other mama-crafters posted their year end review of work and I thought it’d be a great thing to do to gain some [...]
